Net Metering for Commercial Properties

CATEGORY A: Photovoltaic systems (PV) with a capacity of up to 10kW connected to the grid using the net-metering method for businesses in Cyprus.

PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS IN COMMERCIAL STATISTICS?

Category A concerns investments by commercial and industrial consumers to meet the needs of the business with the net metering method.

  • The Photovoltaic Systems should be made on flat or sloping roofs of legal buildings or on the ground where there is a legal existing building and the conditions of Circular 3/2008 and KDP 123/2011 must be met.
  • The maximum power of each Photovoltaic System that can be installed is 10kW per beneficiary and per unit.
  • The last bill of the calendar year is considered to be the consumer’s bill for which a measurement was recorded in February or March. Any surpluses cannot be carried over from one calendar year to the next.
  • In the event that there is an existing Photovoltaic System installed in a consumer account included under any other Government Grants or Support Scheme and it concerns the specific account, the installation of a new Photovoltaic System within the framework of Category A of this Plan will not be allowed. However, it is possible, if the consumer requests it, to include his existing Photovoltaic System in this plan.
  • During 2018, Photovoltaic Systems with a total installed capacity of 20MW can be installed with the metering offset method as follows:
    • Commercial Unsponsored Photovoltaic Systems: up to 10MW with the net metering method
  • Any Commercial Consumer who does not have an existing installed Photovoltaic System included in any other Government Subsidy Scheme or Support Regime and wishes to install a Photovoltaic System on the roof of the building or on the ground within the same or adjacent lot in which the building is located with the its corresponding meter.
  • When submitting the application, applicants will pay the required fee of €250 plus VAT for the cost of the application from the Distribution System Operator, the cost of the meter, the cost of checking and connecting the installation to the distribution system.
  • In case the application is not approved, the amount of €200 plus VAT will be refunded.
    Applicants must have completed the installation, testing and connection of the Photovoltaic System to the distribution network within three months (60 working days) from the date of securing approval.
